We’re proud that Hockey Gives Blood is working to create awareness for more than just blood. We give sweat, tears, blood and stem cells to help our community. We have recently begun helping Canadian Blood Services increase the ethnic diversity amongst the stem cell registry here in Canada. We consider ourselves very fortunate to have partnered with Harpreet Pandher to help raise further awareness for a great cause.
As a commentator for Hockey Night in Canada Punjabi, Harpreet’s time in the broadcast booth has given him an unique and influential voice in the professional hockey community. Harpreet has been a tremendous promoter of hockey diversity and is a great fit to help lead the charge in our efforts to diversify the stem cell registry. As passionate as he is about hockey, Harpreet shares the same desire to help others and we can’t thank him enough for his commitment to growing the registry much like he’s growing the game.
Canada has a wonderfully diverse population, and our stem cell registry should reflect our cultural mosaic, yet only 30 percent of registrants come from ethnically diverse backgrounds. Let’s help Canadian Blood Services encourage more people of diverse ethnicity to #GetSwabbed and join the registry.
